TIN Types

Standardized Tax Identification Number type codes used in the rs_tin_type field.

Overview

RiskScout normalizes your institution's TIN type codes to these standard categories. This enables consistent handling of tax identification for individuals and businesses.

Your original TIN type code is preserved in tin_type, while rs_tin_type contains the mapped standard value.

  • Missing TINs - Use rs_tin_type = None when TIN is not available

Regulatory Considerations

W-9 Certification

The w9_code field tracks W-9 certification status:

  • Required for U.S. persons
  • Backup withholding implications

FATCA

Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act considerations:

  • ITIN indicates potential foreign person
  • Additional documentation may be required
